Big news in the implant world – Allergan’s long awaited form-stable ‘gummy bear’ implant has arrived and is available for use in cosmetic breast augmentation in the USA. This unique implant has been used for years outside of the US and has been shown to have a lower implant failure and capsular contracture rate than traditional smooth round silicone gel implants.
The ‘gummy bear implant’ has a cohesive gel with a stiffness that imparts shape to the breast, rather than the other way around. This means that even with the use of a relatively small volume implant, there will be some shape improvements in the breast, in addition to volume enhancement.
